RENEWAL
PREFERRED SHIP'S MORTGAGE
This application allows you to apply for U.S. Guard Documenation if your vessel has never been documented under U.S. Coast Guard Documentation before. The vessel must measure at least 5 net tons and be wholly owned by a citizen of the United States. Vesesls longer than 25 feet most likely weigh 5 net tons.
Documentation provides conclusive evidence of nationality for international purposes, provides for unhindered commerce between the states, and admits vessels to certain restricted trades, such as coastwise trade and the
fisheries.
This application allows you to renew your vessel’s Certificate of Documentation (COD). You can renew your Documentation for 1,2,3,4 or 5 yeasr.
If your COD is 30 beyond it’s expiration date, then the application for Reinstatement of Documentation is required to be submitted.
This application allows you to apply for a Preferred Ships Mortgage to be recorded on a vessel that is under US Coast Guard Documentation. Lenders may require Documentation when providing a loan for a boat.
A mortgage cannot be recorded against the vessel unless the vessel has a valid Certificate of Documentation or an application for the CODon file at the NVDC.
ABSTRACT OF TITLE
This application allows you to receive an abstract of title for a vessel that is documented under U.S. Coast Guard Documentation. This abstract of title will contain all history regarding the vessel including the chain of ownership, liens placed against the vessel, satisfactions of mortgages, etc.
TRANSFER / EXCHANGE
This application allows you to make a change/transfer in the vessel’s ownership (adding/removing a spouse, selling the vessel, etc.) If there is an outstanding mortgage on the vessel, the mortgage will need to be satisfied or permission from the mortgagee (lender) will need tobe obtained in order to complete the transfer of the vessel’s Certificate of Documentation. The vessel must wirh at least 5 net tons and be wholly owned by a citizen of the United States. Vessels of more that 25 feet are likely to measure 5 net tons.
REINSTATEMENT
This application allows you to reinstate the vessel’s Cerificate Of Documentation and return the vessel to an active status. This form is only used when the expiration date on the COD has past 30 days from its expiration date.

This application allows you to order a certified copy of the current vessels Certificate Of Documentation as it currently exists on record.
This application allows you to a replacement of the vessel’s Certificate Of Documentation when the COD has been lost or mutilated.
This application allows you to apply for a vessel’s deletion from USCG Documentation. A vessel may be deleted upon the request of the vessel’s owner or an authorized agent acting on the owner's behalf.
